Introduction to the Devout Life by St. Francis De Sales - $10.95. Still one of the best guides to the spiritual life for the lay person, despite the fact that it was written four centuries ago. St. Francis de Sales was the bishop of Geneva, the stronghold of Calvinism, during the post-Reformation period, and a noted spiritual director. "Introduction to the Devout Life" is a spiritual classic well worth buying.

The Spiritual Combat by Dom Lorenzo Scupoli - $9.95. This was the favourite book of St. Francis de Sales, who recommended it to those under his direction. It is a vigourous exposition of the main points necessary for success in spiritual matters, which particularly emphasizes that life is a battle and that to attain heaven we must struggle and overcome our own weakness and sinfulness, and the wiles of the devil. Not for the faint-hearted!
The Spiritual Combat - £6.30 - UK & Europe
The Life of Faustina Kowalska by Sister Sophia Michalenko - $12.99. This is a good introduction to the life and spirituality of Sister, now Saint Faustina. It details convent life and her encounters with Jesus, as well as her struggles to promote the Divine Mercy devotion, which is now making such rapid strides in the Church. It is also interesting to compare the Divine Mercy message with Fatima. Quite prophetic in the way it apparently foretells the way that Poland, particularly in the person of Pope John Paul II, would play such an important role in the Church.
